Finding Links:
After downloading ALink and installing it, and configuring it, you will want to find some links.
The best place to start is a Search Engine and search for "Reciprocal Links Page" like:
Google
All the Web
Altavista
Visit each site in the search results that would suit your links page and then copy and paste the information about each site into the program.

You can then press the "Email" button as shown above to send an email to the site owner to request the link and let them know you have added theirs to your list.
(You should only send an email if they request that is what you do to get a link, we wouldn't want you to spam.)
You should then press "Add" to add the link to your links page.
Repeat the process as many times as you like.
Setting up a link request form:
Once you are off and running with ALink, you will no doubt want to use the auto import feature when other sites request that you link back to them.
To do this you will need to set up a formmail script or use a mailto: link.
Novice Users: Mailto action
This is a sample form using a "mailto:" action to send an email to you.
To place this onto your webpage, simply right click on this page and select view source from the menu.
Then search for "form action" and then copy from that line to the next line with form on it, including both of those lines.
Then paste them into one of your webpages, change the email to your email address, save it and upload it to your website.
Advanced Users: Formmail script
You will need to download a formmail script from a site like:
Matt's Script Archive
Then set it up on your webserver.
You can then copy the form at: Info Pack
You will need to change the links and email address, but other than that the form should be ok.
After filling in the form you will get a resulting email as shown below:

To get the data from the request email into the program, simply highlight the text from the email and copy it.
You can then use the "Import form Data" from the "Entry" menu to bring the data into the program as shown below and then press the "Add" button to add the link to the database.
